Heeeeelp!

We have an alarm system with a TS690 panel.

We haven't armed it since we moved in many years ago. But yesterday the system was reset.

The panel is showing a "Phone line fault" and we're hearing a loud beep every minute or so. :(

Is there a way to disable this beep - or phone line detection - without calling out an engineer?

Or a way to disable the entire alarm system (which we haven't been using anyway).

Any help appreciated!

If it is a "simple" phone line check then connecting a voltage from batteries to the phone line input might trick the panel into thinking there is a phone line

I seem to recall 36 volts from four pp9 batteries via a 470 ohm resistor fooled a lone worker alarm into believing a phone line was connected.

( the safety of the system was not compromised affected as the alarm system was modified to notify 24-7 manned security office and no longer needed the phone line )

Hmmm... many thanks for replying, but was hoping for a simple programming solution, if possible.

It wasn't easy to work as, with the power off and no battery installed, the external alarm was going off.

So I called in a pro in the end. All good now.

Thanks a lot for your response - appreciated.

Here's a trick for next time...

If you need to power an alarm down for a short time, connect the bell's holdoff (power) wires to the battery. This will stop it ringing whilst you have the panel powered down and should last for many hours. of course, the bell will sound whilst you have the wires out of the panel and before you connect them to the battery

Can you see the terminal on the right hand side (page 6) called "LINE FLT"? Take the wire out...
