Could someone give me some help with calculating the heat loss I am getting from my original suspended and ventilated timber ground floors. Given the u value I can do the rest, but I have seen such a variety of average u values for uninsulated timber floors quoted (from 0.7 to 4 W/m2K!) I am not sure what to believe.

I have tried an online timber ground floor calculator, that uses wind speed and timber dimensions etc., and that gave me u value 3.56 which just seems far too high. I reliable reference or an explanation of how to calculate u for such an element would be great.

I know insulation will help, but want to run some figures on cost effectiveness.
