Upgrading Alarm Display Panel

I have an ugly big old alarm display panel in my hall.

I got a quote from the company who installed it years ago to change the panel to a nice new smaller display panel. They said that it would cost a few hundred quid, because it would have to be re-programmed etc..

Do you think a few hundred quid is fair enough? Or do you think a smaller independent company would be considerably cheaper to do the job?

Depends on what you have and what panel they are going to fit ! How many zones and what equipment !

Unfortunatley you are not giving much to go on.

What do you have now, whats it being swapped with.

How much is a few hundred?

Are you truly being upgraded or being offered a smaller panel.

In general they could be swapping out just the panel and then having to reprogram it. I would say it doesn't sound over the top but depends on what is on offer and exactly what is a few hundred.
