Upvc windows

I can see some people have had a similar problem before but cant seem to find an issue towards fixing my problem! I forced the upvc handle when the key was lost in order to fit a new handle. However i have removed the handle and the window is stuck in the locked postion. When i turn the internal lock to the window nothing seems to happen so i can only assume something has sheared possibly. Any tips on how to get the window open so i can at least assess the damage? Any help appreciated.

Sounds like the gearbox has gone.
Normally the way I do it is to take the glass out and then try to wiggle the sash back and forth or up and down to release the locks

Once open take the gearbox out. You should be able to order a new one by googling the name and any numbers stamped on it.

You can screw the sash shut until the new one comes.
