vauxhall astra bonnet wont open

hi,
wondered if anybody knew how to open a vauxhall astra bonnet from the outside. i pull the lever from the inside but nothing happens and i am seconds away from smashing the bonnet open.

Have you tried pushing the bonnet up and down, whilst some one else is pulling the lever....

have someone to pull the lever inside, and you push down with sharp movements at the front of bonnet. Sounds like its not releasing

many thanks, managed to get the thing open, now for my next problem if anybody has the time and answers, ill start a new post of in this section even tho i done one in general section, highlighted under vauxhall alternator change )
