any ideas that would cause central locking problems on a 2003 corsa sxi the key fob battery has been changed but the remote c/locking does not work

Is there a light in the key which comes on when you press and hold a button?

yes the light wrks in the key fob when the button is pressed

If the battery went flat in the keyfob then it may need reprogramming to the car. Corsa handbook tells you how to do that.
