velux fused plug

Hi there,

I've got two new velux integra windows installed. They come with a fused plug, which the sparky is insisting that it should be kept like that, with an access hatch in the ceiling to access it if it goes wrong. Reason is that if he cuts the plug the warranty becomes void.

I am proposing to cut the plug off, and crimp/extend it and then put a switched/unswitched fuse somewhere convenient on the wall.

Is he being over cautious? I've never come across this before!
