I am looking to install a basic cooker hood in a new-ish kitchen and I would like to know if anyone has any advice on the installation.

I am currently in search of cooker hood that costs under £150 but has a reasonable extraction rate to be wall mounted. We currently do not have a cooker hood installed and I believe some of the ones I have seen are just a simple plug in type. However so I have been told to get the best from the cooker hood I would need to externally vent the appliance.

Would it be possible to run some flat channel ducting along the ceiling from the hood to an airbrick that comes part of the flat channel ducting. We had thought about going through the ceiling in the kitchen but after discovering a void which is impossible to get to because of how the bathroom is positioned above it.

Any help would be appreciated.
