Versatile paint/primers??

Hello, I have just bought a compressor and whilst I don't intend to repaint the car just yet I do tinker with various materials i.e. wood, fibreglass mainly but metal (not car) needs to be on the list, making various things. In a perfect world I would like a few colours of one type of paint that I could mix and match at my leisure (and add metallic flake as an option) that would happily go over a couple of different undercoats/primers that I could use on metal or wood or plastic? Any help would be muchly welcome. Rob (Not professional, just for fun)
