very heavy clutch pedal help please

Hi all happy Xmas xxxxx
can any body help i have a vw sharan 1.9 tdi 130 and find the clutch is very heavy the spring seems to be a bit over the top for the return of the pedal has anyone altered theirs or has any help how to make it lighter it is an expansion type spring and does seem very heavy for what it does any help appreciated the care drives superb as i will be towing a caravan i would prefare the clutch to be a bit lighter thanks bazz

Hopefully its just the return spring, but usually its in the pressure plate in the clutch mechanism.

Pop the return spring off, see if things improve.

Bazz, if the clutch is getting on a bit, the pedal travel - or action, if you like - is rather reduced, and the movement that remains does tend to give a heavy pedal. Would this sound about right? It doesn't mean that the clutch is ready to give up necessarily, just that its not in the first flush of youth.

I wouldn't try and remove the return spring, it took me nearly 5 hours to put one back into place on a seat Alhambra!
