Hi
I am busy wih my back porch which has a smooth cement floor painted with a floor paint.

Choice : 1 vinyl tile is no problem on this surface I think.

2 what about the ceranic tile , as the floor is very smooth an painted I think there is work to do on the flooring so the top cement will
stick to the subflooring.

Can somebody give me some advise on my choices.

Thanks in advance

Bob

No question in my mind, ceramic tiles, much better than vinyl which will probably curl at the edges; does the floor have a damp proof membrane?

Not much will stick to floor paint.

For vinyl tiles you will need neoprene primer, a damp proof membrane and a levelling screed to take the adhesive.

For ceramic tiles you will need a primer and a screed to take the tile adhesive or completely remove the floor paint and fix to concrete.

Some ceramic tiles are for internal use only - not for areas subject to frost.
