Hi guys,

Builder started with our roof today. Happy in general, but did notice that the warm deck (ply adhered to insulation) does have a couple of small gaps. I'm not talking big, but just worried that any small gaps will cancel the point of a warm deck. Should I worry, or is it assumed that not every job would be perfect and gaps are normal.

A thought was to fill with foam insulation from the bottom?

Thanks

Mac

As long as insulation is laid tight to each other, a few small gaps in ply is near enough.

Got it right this time

Thanks oldun. I'm looking from underneath and can see gaps on a couple of sheets between the insulation. I may insist that these are tightly packed with something. I must say, on receiving the td4000, I was slightly surprised that the ply projected a couple mm beyond the insulation. This would make it difficult to butt the insulation tightly to each other.

I would fill any gaps with expanding foam.

Foil tape would no go amiss either. Tricky bleedin stuff to fit though seems to have a mind of its own. Don't trim your finger nails either before using.
