Russia are being backed into a corner and that ain't healthy.

ISIS/IZAL/BASTIDs or whatever they are called did us a favour by blowing the airliner up, it brought Russia on side and now they've had a military aircraft blown out of the skies by Turkey, a supposed allie in this matter.

Proper feck whits the Turks.

And I thought you were having a go at me ....

The Russians have been making incursions close to and into other countries airspace and waters for years now. They are deliberately testing the response and the defences. They invaded Crimea using subterfuge, because they thought they could get away with it. Putin is a bully, and flexing his muscles on the world stage. I think you have to stand up to him, without deliberately provoking him. If an aircraft crosses your airspace, it is surely fair game? As far as I know they've been taking liberties for years.

I thought I'd attempt to inject a little humour in the title;)

Turkey is going islamic and should have no place in NATO or EU; completely impulsive and unreliable.
Sure, Russia is sabre-rattling, but only idiots rise to the bait.
As for the scum shooting the airman while on his parachute, do we really want to support animals like that?

However, it's fair game for Boris Big-Bollogs to zap the fook out of anyone he wants, from the safety of his supersonic, multi-million, cocoon?
Double-standards?

Russia's doing Isis some serious damage, Turkish tw*ts support Isis, what more explanation do you need?

Except that Russia started out by bombing, not ISIS, but the anti-Assad rebels that are supported by the West.

A deliberate collision course.

If NATO and Russia get into a nuclear conflict, then we in the UK get vaporised. Spain and Portugal won't, Norway and Iceland won't either. France will as they have nuclear weapons. I'm all with Corbyn on this. Get rid of them before we get vaporised.
Only if we use nuclear weapons against Russia, which we should not do.
Nuclear weapons are a deterrent. Russia will not nuke us if we do not nuke them.

Russia may pay Turkey a visit to make reparations. We must not retaliate. This is Turkey's problem of its own making.

At least they escorted them away and did not shoot them down!

The UKAD fighters don't escort the Russian bombers away, they intercept to show that somehow we still have the capability to do this. The Russian aircraft are very careful to fly in international airspace as shown by the recent round Britain tour that they just did

If someone had just been dropping bombs on me with impunity because I don't have the means to stop them and suddenly they were dangling in the air I'd do payback. What would you recommend that you allow them to be picked up and be back tomorrow dropping more bombs?

During ww2 when the Luftwaffe was raiding England, German pilots who parachuted out of their aircraft were not fired on; shows the difference between scum and those who are able to show restraint.
And see it from the other side; the Russian pilots are only doing payback for the scum that blew up their airliner.

"During ww2 when the Luftwaffe was raiding England, German pilots who parachuted out of their aircraft were not fired on; shows the difference between scum and those who are able to show restraint."

I think you'll find that's not quite correct, their were numerous occurrences of Luftwaffe crew being shot at by other aircraft, so prevalent was it that a directive was issued banning the practice by RAF senior officers. There are also occasions where aircrew were set upon once on the ground with the headless body being produced by farmworkers in a field in Kent and others beaten to death. I seem to remember one of the British aces being peppered by shotgun pellets fired by a member of the home guard as he made his descent taking him out of the battle of Britain because he couldn't sit down. Stanford Tuck in his book admits to machine gunning a pilot down in the English channel. The German air-sea rescue float planes originally painted white and displaying red crosses were as a matter of official policy shot from the sky.
