Washing Machine / Dishwasher leak

i have a washing machine & dishwasher connected upto the same outlet trap under the sink, i bought a Y shapped pipe from homebase which allows me to connect the washing machine and dish washer.
However the problem i have is when i have the washing machine on it leaks from out of the outlet tap the waste pipe is feed into.
its as if the U bend in the trap is not far enought away from the waste pipe and therefor doubles back on its self.
It is only a small amount of water but is a real pain.

the only other problem i have it that there is not a lot of room from the top of the two waste pipes to the work surface.

what can i do

Re think the design of your outlets, every appliance Manufacturer recommends a seperate upstand for the waste outlet, trying to waste out into a sink is in conflict with your installation instructions.
