Washing Machine - Hot Water Tap

I have a new washing machine that is cold water only - the hot tap now has no hose and have closed it with a brass cap and washer - this is still dripping - tried putting some PTFE but did not stick very well - any suggestions please?

Either fit a new washing machine tap with a valve that works, or if you want to be absolutely sure, take the tap off and fit a stop end.
