Washing Machine - how they work, common faults, components..

Hi

I'm trying to teach myself about washing machines. I really want to know how they work, the common components, typical faults that they get, etc.

Basically I have plumbed one in befoire, but don't know how to repair them, how they even work properley!

I know they have the drum, door seals, inlet valves? (hot and cold flexy tubes, a lot now are cold fill only though), electric supplier, programmer, pump and outlet pipe.

Is there a pretty common working sequenece for most machines and similar parts in most machines?

Are there any good websites that can help me here??

Go to halfords and pick up a Haynes manual it explains every think. And has diagrams.
