washing machine in garage

after my purhcase of new washing machine, i would like to put my old one in the garage. How hard is to install new plumbing for that? and i only need cold water anyway, is that ok?

Here in uk i wouldnt do it as it is likely to freeze up and splatter your pump when the ice cracks it
