Just looked at fitting a new WC in my old bathroom, the soil waste pipe goes down to the sewer in the normal way but is 8" away from the wall going straight into the floor, not the wall. The old system (which is now out) had a separate cistern and pan coupled by a long pipe (old style) Having looked at a new system, if does not seem possible to fit the waste pipe any other way than out the wall, if their any way of connecting this waste without having to move the entire soil pipe from the ground to the wall.
