Water based to oil based

Hi,I've got some exterior windows to repaint which have previously been coated with water based satin,i was hoping to redo them using sikkens oil based u/c and satin finish will this be ok to do as long as the windows are prepped well I.e. Thourghly rubbed Down all loose coating removed or will I have to completely remove the excisting coating first,many thanks
