Hello,

I have water dripping from the flue of my Alpha CB24 combi boiler. I've
read that the flue should have a slight rise to the terminal but mine has a fall. Thinking this was the problem and with phone in hand I resolved to call the plumber but then I checked the paperwork and Alpha recommend a 'slight downward slope to the terminal'. Which is correct?

Thanks all

The first one is for condensing boilers which the cb24 aint

:)

and the manufacturers instructions ARE ALWAYS RIGHT and there is no argument against them

so you already had your answer

Your flue is correct.

Only condensing boiler flues have a rise off the boiler.

Thank you both for the prompt replies. So I suppose I'd better ask the actual question, then  Why do I have this drip from the vent? It's discolouring the brickwork and only started after I turned the boiler thermostat up to 6 (was at 4). I have a room stat and was going for a faster rise in room temperature (which worked following the increase from 4 to 6). There is no drop in water pressure.

Thanks, all. Is there anything on the market to trap the condensate somehow? Can't say I've looked at other peoples's vents but this is likely to produce a nasty stain over time and I don't want to turn the boiler down as it does a great job in all other respects........

I suppose you could try sealing the brick work to protect it a bit

it may be worth asking the builders about this in the builders forum

:)
