I need to buy a new piece, to match. Anyone know what it's called and where I can buy it? THanks

Thanks for the clue, Dave. Have been all over google images and cannot see one exactly like it, so still cannot find where I can buy some...

Hi folks.

I spent two hours online searching every possible supplier of "decorative embossed mouldings" and went to the andythornton and richardburidge websites and searched every single one of their designs - to no avail. I searched extensively on google images. I've scrolled through everything, every chain store, every specialist - not found.

The design I have is nowhere to be found anywhere on the net. It does not match egg and tongue or egg and dart - though it's of that ilk.

I think I am not going to find this anywhere.

The man who renovated this house (from whom I purchased it in 1999). He was just an office worker who tarted up the house in his spare time. He didn't go for top of the range or anything like that. He would have got the stuff at somewhere like B&Q or Wickes, like everything else in the house.

I've emailed andythornton

It could be easier to gently prise it off, and replace the whole lot with a moulding of your choice.....assuming 'no nails' hasn't been used, of course!

Hi John

Got a reply from andythorntons and they reckon it's one of theirs

I did look at that last night (and thousands of others) but ruled it out. It looks different when painted. I don't think it's the same one, but it's close enough to match seeing as what I'm matching is on the other side of the room. Fairly pricey, but I guess I shall just have to cough up!

I've used Thorntons before.....comes packed in a huge cardboard roll - over 2 metres long, I remember.
