What paint to use on front door alcove - exterior?

This might be a silly question, but I'm preparing to paint the alcove just outside my front door - walls are plaster or something very plaster-like, but the alcove is quite well sheltered (ie, not exposed to any serious weather).

I'm a bit stumped about what sort of paint to use. Does it need exterior, or can I get away with Matt emulsion?

Any suggestions?

Before Exterior wall paints were made popular, decorators used Matt Emulsion Paint to paint exterior walls.

If its in a place where water won't reach it then i just use an oil based undercoat
