What Ridge/Hip junction method do you use?

Just a general question as I am interested in what method everyone else uses.

What is everyone's favoured method of completing a hip to ridge junction on a dry roof system?

1) Plastic ridge/hip junction pieces
2) Cutting the tiles and using mortar.
3) Using a saddle/lead over the joint

Surely it depends on how the rest of the ridge/hip tiles are fixed?

It's never a pretty junction no matter what.

I use a bucket of mortar slapped on.
