I have a very old oil boiler which does the hot water and heating.

I have put the hot water tank setting to 55-60 degrees but what should my boiler be set at? It has a red knob on the front with the temp in degree's so it is easily changed. I have noticed that my rad's are REALLY hot when on so I have obviously got it set to high!

Also, my red pump to the side of the boiler has setting 1, 2 and 3 on it and it is on 2 at the moment, does that make a difference?

It is a 4 bed bungalow if that makes a difference :D

Cheers

You cylinder stat (hot water) should be set at 60. (min)

Boiler stat needs to atleast 5 degrees more to allow for heat loss though pipes etc.

Any less and the cylinder stat will never reach temp and any more is just lowering the efficency.

As long as your house is heated adequatley with rad temps of 65.

Hope your loft is WELL insulated aswell.
