What to use to protect an external door?

Ah, I didn't realise that I should use the same colour undercoat as the top coat. I just used your standard white and will be looking at painting the door black. What should I do, paint on a new undercoat?

Yes you should, dont forget to lightly sand the white undercoat and then apply either a mid or dark grey undercoat, you can then after a light sanding apply your gloss. If you are looking for a paint system that will offer the utmost level of both protection and sheen, go for Crown Solo.

Thanks for that. My wife picked up a tin of Farrow & Ball gloss paint. It's water based! Are they any good?

Well I dont like F&B and you would be better off with an oil based gloss.
