I need to touch up a small area of white emulsion. All I know is that Dulux matt was used. I would guess it was vinyl matt because there is some magnolia vinyl matt left over for the walls. It was painted by a reputable professional painter and decorator, who I can't contact at the moment.

My question is; which is the MOST LIKELY colour of white he would have used - white, or brilliant white?

Is one of these whites more popular than the other in the trade?

Many thanks.

Usually brilliant white, the cheapo contact white is usually used on ceilings. Paint the whole wall though, or better still the whole room.

Thanks Joe, though it is just a fairly short length of coving that needs the attention, so I will do just that one length.

So it may well be just 'white' then.
