Who do you believe, the Yanks, Russians, or Ukrainians?

As a northerner living in exile (trying to convert the southerners of this land to the true path of tea, flat hats and whippets) I'm still trying to find the north/south line.

There seems to be two realistic opinions:

1. A line joining the Wash to the Avon

2. The North is regarded by some to be the counties within the C of E Province of York. (ie, Cheshire, Yorkshire and other counties further north.)

Personally, I prefer the latter. Somehow, I can't imagine counties like Herefordshire and Worcestershire as being in the North.

Have to agree with that, the people of Eastern Ukraine are different from the people in the west of Ukraine just as the people in the North of Ireland see them selves as different from the people in the South of Ireland.
We partitioned Ireland so why not Ukraine

Most of the casualties in Eastern Ukraine have been caused by the Ukrainian army using the Israeli tactic of flattening an entire area just to take out a few resistance fighters, the Nazis used similar tactics in Eastern Europe but it still didn't stop them losing 500,000 men to Russian partisans.

Really? how do you know?

If there are Pro Russian fighters hiding in civilian areas, then who's fault is it that the Ukrainian army shoots at them? It is a bit like Hamas hiding behind the skirts of women, firing rockets into Israel.

East Ukraine is mostly pro Russian, 100,000's of refugees who fled crossed the border into Russia, if they are so pro EU why didn't they head West.

Really? if this is so, then why is the majority of Eastern Ukraine not fighting? just a couple of relatively small areas down in the South... If the people who moved to Russia want to be Russian, then they have moved to the right country...

The majority of folk in Eastern Ukraine just want to get on with their lives and not be pawns in Putins chess game..

It seems old porkyshenko's army has been given a bloody nose by the Ukranian separatists, so he has now called a ceasefire.
Hopefully he will recognise the rights of the Eastern Ukrainians to Autonomy.

The Russian leadership along with the US and the UK guaranteed the integrity of Ukraine's borders in return for them surrendering their nuclear deterrent... There was no ethnic cleansing, the people moved out when the Russian backed Pro Russian fighters started shooting local politicians, police and Civil Servants... Obviously the Government had to react..
