Will one coat of paint over white?

My walls are already in white, freshly painted and I'm going to change to a barely off white shade and need to buy all paint in one go. Is one coat likely to suffice or will it still need two?

Well it should be able to cover io one coat yet it will depend on your application skills, if the surface to be painted has a sheen such as silk a light sand and dust off prior to application would'nt hurt.
