hello i have read the forums and have understood that under no circumstances should i attempt to wire up my power shower alone, but as where the wire needs to go is to be decorated and the decoration will be done before the shower goes in, i intend to run the cable from the consumer unit to the site myself, then get an electrician to hook up for me, what size cable should i use, i would rather go larger than i require so i am not limited to what shower i can get.

also what do you think a rough cost is to upgrade my consumer unit to a newer model?

Im afraid you need to give more information:

Q:
Where is your bathroom/shower room in relation to the CU
How long is the cable run
Will the cable pass through an insulated wall
Will the cable go outside at any point
What is the power of your shower in Kw
