Hi

We have taken our fireplace back to the bricks and unfortunately these aren't in great condition. I would like to attach some nice wood to effectively cover them (looking at approx 2 x 1.5m h x 1m w) in a surround type style leaving the fireplace open but not used.

Would I be able to get made to measure wood cut and if so where from? I would ideally like walnut as this will match the worktops, is this more difficult to source?

Secondly what would be the best way to attach to the brickwork?

Thanks and appreciate the help

I used a couple of wide timbers and stained to match a piece of reclaimed oak, stood the timber on slate heath and fixed to wall with flat metal plates screwed to the back of timber and then recessed into wall and plastered over, the 'legs' take the weight of the top so just needs holding back to wall.
