hi we have a worcester 240 combi boiler and it has started making a different noise than usual a bit like a noisy fan , also the pressure on the central heating is rising up to 2.5 bar then it cuts itself out , the heating and water still work but not sure if rads are hotter than normal. there is a little water coming out of the pressure relief pipe . anybody have any clues before a call someone out.

thanks

Check that your filling link is disconnected. If its not been shut off correctly and is still connected, it will continue to add water into the system. Water will come out of the PRV when your system pressure gets near 3 bar. If the pressure still goes up if the link is disconnected, either your Pressure Vessel has lost its charge pr your dhw heat exchanger is goosed.

thanks, how can i check the pump
take front fascia cover off (pull it from bottom)

then use a big flat screwdriver rested on the top of the pump body and listen to the other end (you will be able to hear the impeller/water moving or a buzz if its jammed.

thanks , the pressure only increases when the heating is switched on, is it possible that something is frozen inside, the boiler is in the house on a outside wall
