Would a PIR

In theory, would the below circuit work in that the PIR would actively control the lights when the switch was not in use. I am unsure as to whether PIR sensors act like simple switches or whether they act as a one way road, meaning that if the switch was in the on position would it fry the PIR?

You should wire it like this


And use a PIR with a mechanical switch ( relay contact ) and NOT a solid state switch as the leakage in a solid state switch will mean the LEDs may glow dimly when OFF.

A mechanical switch will have a protective circuit which also leaks a bit of current when OFF so a snubber may be needed if the LEDs still glow when OFF
