zanussi washing maching whistling sound when spinning.

Hi.
I have a zanussi zwf1421w washing machine four years old, which has started to make a whistling sound when spinning and as it slows down it makes a slight knocking sound
Any Ideas please..

Does the tune sound familiar?
It could be a number of things...you need to narrow it down a bit. Remove the back, take off the drive belt & spin the drum by hand to see if it is noisy. Then check if there is any play in the drum bearings by lifting the drum up & down by hand. If either is evident it will be a costly (& probably uneconomical) repair. While the belt is still off give the motor a spin by hand & listen for any abnormal sounds there as well.
