I have fitted alarm systems in detached garages, and sometimes they tend to go off for no apparent reason when not even set. It seems to be when the weather is particularly hot. Does this sound right, and what can be done? Bell box outside.

Thanks. I'm only going by a phone call I've recieved, so not sure about anything showing on the display.

How exactly would I make adjustments of the tamper on the bell box and PIR?

Springs and switch actuator arm - assuming backplate of bell mounted on a reasonably flat surface

How do I adjust them though? From memory, I thought they were pretty much in a fixed position.

if its a micro switch most are long lever, bend it out more and listen for click when putting on bell cover, make sure there is some play on it and if its a spring slighty stretch it .

Depending on the sounder there may well be a back tamper that is now being over extended.

The best method is to fix a screw drilled and plugged at that point. As you may not be able to actually move the sounder itself.
