Hi, wondered if anyone knows how I can connect a relay to the alarm trigger output so I can switch on security lights on alarm activation?

There is a trigger cable and board assembly that you can buy to utilise the onboard trigger outputs. If you only need one output, then 1001 is available on-board. The trigger outputs are switched negative, so connect your 12V relay to +12 aux on the panel and the negative to the output (Ie. 1001). The default setting for 1001 is SET/Reflex, so you need to change the setting to something like BELLS or STROBE.

You can also double up with the sounder output as suggested by Mark.

Doesn't the GJD Emerald/saphire have that facility?

You still need a relay with the gjd to short out the trip input via a couple of diodes but the gjd way is better as the unit is fused. Or elmdene do a mains switching unit for around £25 which I believe is also fused.

Thank you for all your suggestions, this sounds a bit daft...but the trigger head on the board...is there a connector for it ? and will I be able to programme each of the outputs to connect to different devices?

There are a couple of trigger connection types for the G2. One with a flying lead which has screw terminals on a small PCB as per my previous reply. And one like this which is a connector on a ribbon cable that can be connected directly to the devices you install:

The header has 8 outputs that can sink 30mA each. Each output can be configured in the outputs menu.
