Is the speedometer working? If so possibly a fault in the instrument.

If the speedo is working, it looks like the dash has a fault, because as far as I know they both use the same sensor signal. There might be a fault code to help with the trouble shooting, if you get it plugged in.

Its a firm that repairs or remanufactures automotive electronic components....the best in the business too!

You don't specify the symptoms, but assuming there's no display, as opposed to it not turning over, then suspect the bulb.

They're usually frosted in a white case for the odometer:

Thanks are they easy to fit?
I added that they're usually less than £1 from Vauxhall dealer, but the forum software thought better of it.

You'll need to remove the instrument cluster. Haynes' favourite method is always to take the steering wheel off first. I've not done this on a Corsa or Escort when asked, and got away with it. If you fancy trying with wheel in place, follow the following steps. If you can't get the cluster out from around the wheel then no great hardship as you should be able to feel/peer round the back of it still and untwist/remove the suspect bulb.

Tilt wheel left/right and undo screws from cowling, plus those underneath. Undo the screw for the wheel tilt knob and remove that, plus the cowling.

Haynes says you're now to remove the lighting/foglight switch, radio and outer vent to get access to the screws for the cluster, and there might be one under the inner vent also.

Now unscrew the surround (4 screws), pull forward/disconnect wiring and then replace bulb and put it all back.

Shining a torch at the display should let us know if its counting or not.....ala Renault Megane with the central display.
Do we know if its working or not yet?
John :)
