Building Regulations -One door ok between kitchen & bedr

I am currently renovating a ground floor flat. I have heard that there must always be two doors between a kitchen and a bedroom. Is this true?

If so, we currently have one door planned. We assume that the building regulation certificate will get signed off if the room simply doesn't have a bed/isn't being used as a bedroom. However, upon then later marketing the flat for sale. Does this mean that this bedroom can't be included in the marketing? (i.e. couldn't be classified as selling a 2-bedroomed flat?)

Please help, I am not familiar with building regulations and/or how these impact later use of the property?

No not true, does not matter the classification of the room only that the means of escape in case of fire is adequate. Cooking facilites should be remote from access to the escape route unless enclosed within fire resistant construction. The "two door" thing is wrong, but as this is a flat, fire precautions are necessary and if there are more than two floors then there may be additional requirements.

Alternatively, it may be acceptable to make the flat 'no worse' in terms of fire safety than it was when built

If you are doing this as a developer, then you need to get some proper advice as liability could attach to you for non compliance even if the flat is sold.

And check any lease to see who needs to be notified for certain work
