Hi there
I need to reconstruct a wall and Fire Door to reinstate a lobby area in a flat. I am looking for advise as to how best to achieve this using the right materials and would welcome someone with confirmed know how. I am talking with British Gypsum tomorrow to get recommendations on suitable products but was looking for a tradesman's advice on the matter also for a "sense check". Would also appreciate of anything to avoid consider.
May I ask:
- Can I use any thickness of wood to construct the frame (what would you advise I use/stay away from doing?)
- What distances between the noggins etc
- What thickness of plasterboard
- Do I need insulation (can a specialist plasterboard meet this requirement?)
- If I need insulation, can you recommend a product to use?
- Anything else to consider (Aside from the door?)
RE: The FD30 door - whats a good, suitable (fire rated) and least messy product to use in filling the void between door lining and structural frame? I used expanding foam before and want to avoid that again, but also don't want to but a huge quantity of rock wool for such a small job.
Any recommendations on suitable products that are reasonably priced that a non-tradesman would not know about is also welcome.
With thanks in advance for your time and effort people.
