Permitted development rights

Another question for you. I have been told by my local authority that as I have my pd rights removed I have to do a full planning app for a garden shed !! is this right? as it doesn't cost me to put an app in its not really a problem, but what a waste of public money.

And what if you already have a shed without planning that has been there 12 years?

It's all correct - if a bit stupid. Sheds are not normally a problem because of PD rights. Remove the PD rights and technically you should make a planning application. Although if it were me I would just do it. As for a 12 year old shed; as long as you can prove it is more than 4 years old it is immune from planning enforcement.

What ever happened to the days where you went in to your local Planning office, saw the planning officer, told him what you wanted to do and if it was reasonable he'd say 'yeah, carry on' !
