Hello again,
I need to replace old fashioned, and probably unsafe banisters.
I realise I have to follow regulations; 100mm space and hand-rail height etc. But Do I need to go through building regs for this?
Thanks ,
choc.

its not necesarily 100mm spaces, it is you shouldnt be able to pass a 100mm sphere through any gap between the balluster, so if they are turned and narrower etc in the middle then the gap may need reducing,

This was my understanding when I read the reg on this.

i would aim for 95mm on un turned and 92 on turned to allow for movement as your only talking one or two extra spindles on a stair
and dont forget you have one more space than spindle on any run :D
