It mentioned lofts a fair bit, but in most if not all circumstances, in the context of loft conversions I think.

A roof space is treated the same as any other void - a floor, ceiling or wall void.
If the beam is in such a void, and there is 30 or 60 minutes fire protection (eg plasterboard) between the beam and the potential source of fire, then it is deemed to comply
