Concrete floors

Hello

For those who have removed solid concrete floors that don't have a DPM (perhaps to install a new insulated concrete floor with DPM), do the old floors tend to be soaking wet beneath, or dry? Is there always an obvious source of the wetness?

Not always; could be a leaking drain? or just a high water table?

No rain for 4 days, edge of floor slab still wet enough to cause droplets on a waxy card. Hard to tel if coming from slab or bricks/cavity. All underground drains repaired. Starting to wonder if there is a spring nearby. If the dry spell continues it will aid my investigation, as I can see if I can find "wet" areas outside but nearby house.

Same approach last year found a broken gully and toilet waste. Ground nearby is heavy clay and was soaking even though no rain.

Shower waste exits through cavity, going to check 40mm pipe for cracks too. Not that it is nearby any problem areas.

Still hasn't rained, damp seems to come and go. Wondering if one of the PVC pipes such as from the shower is leaking into the cavity. Water must be coming from somewhere but no signs of leaks, meter doesnt move etc.
