Hello everyone,

I've recently had some work done and not sure about a feature that ive noticed..

A new window frame was fitted.. between that and the brickwork above you can see the edge of the steel lintel which exposed to the weather.

the top of the window frame touches the underside of the steel lintel.

Should the exposed surface be covered in something? not sure if it would rust and leave stains on the window frame below it? or is it ok to leave it as it is?

It'll probably be a boot lintel and what you can see is the ledge that supports the courses of brick above. Generally made in galvanised steel so no further protection required.
