First time poster here.

We are building a house. We will have an open fire in the sitting room, we are installing an old York range in the dining room and a wood burner in the kitchen.

The builder has asked about location of air bricks. There will be cupboards either side of the range and fireplace.

We have been told that many wood burners have a ventilation system built in? We have also been told that we could position air bricks behind the fireplaces?

General advice would be much appreciated, I am not a builder.

With huge thanks.

The wood burning stove only requires sufficient make up air to that room - Mfr's Inst's will explain.

I should steer clear of installing air bricks behind a fireplace.

The stove installation should require HETAS input, so get an early heads up with the HETAS for design features regarding safe and efficient ventilation for the "York range" while you are at it. There shouldn't be any difficulties.

Yes you either need to get a thorough understanding of installing them yourself or you employ a Heats fitter to advise/install. Way too many factors to advise on a forum.
