I have a two story home. We want to remove an 8' section of wall. The second story floors are made up of truss construction. trusses are 27' long. I believe this wall is a load bearing wall, but I have read that many second story truss homes do not have these load bearing walls. We will be leaving about 15' of interior wall standing. On one side of the wall we are removing there is a fireplace which will be left.

Thanks for anyone's input in advance

See the nearby post: "victoria fireplace - lintel" and perhaps post pics with annotations similar to the OP's?

At the moment its not possible, for me at any rate, to advise you without a few pics of existing and proposed.

Perhaps others will see your proposal more clearly?
