To minimize floor buildup, the structural engineer has specified doubled-up 175 x 75 (ie. 175 x 150) floor joists for our loft conversion. I am having problems sourcing joist hangers to work with this size, can anyone help?

Instead of doubling the joists up, why not just space them at one-half the spacing specified (ie if your doubled-joists are supposed to be at 400c/s, just put the single joists at 200c/s. Structurally there is no difference.

Oh Engineers!

FFS, at least design something that is buildable, not just what the software throws out

Two joist hangers side by side, the ones with no external side flanges work just fine...pinenot :)

What is your actual span? Two 7x3s @400c/s seems very hefty.

Has your SE considered alternative solutions, or has he just done it the easiest for himself?
