sudden stain appear on bedroom ceiling approx 2' x 2" no sign of damp in loft. Have painted over 3 coats but has come through again......... any thoughts please.

Tks JohnD have checked again in precise point where mark is, all bone dry and not area where water pipe is

tks JohnD, not raining but will check next time it does. Am thinking of thinking of painting with white oil based primer then matt emulsion
Is there any staining on the plaster board in the loft above the bedroom stain ?
If not then the stain was caused by something in the bedroom, what colour is the stain, light, dark, greasy

tks Bosswhite.......... no sign any stain or marks on plasterboard in loft.
under roof also show no sign where rainwater could ingress.
have now painted with primer and when dry will emulsion and wait to see what happens.
The stain happens to be very close to where water tank sits but have checked this thoroughly and all very dry also no pipe in area of stain.

Just stain block and over paint.
