help removing bitumen paint from exterior brick wall

For some reason the previous owner has painted bitumen paint all round the house up to damp course level.

Any ideas how i can remove this?

Sorry forgot to mention.
My bricks are fletton's (zig zag type). I cant imagine it working because of all the indents.
I could imagine that method working on a normal wall.
