Hello all, I'm hoping to get some guidance on a subject that is so far from my skill set it may as well be a different language.

So I am in the process of purchasing my first home. I'm sure you all know how hard it is to get on the property ladder at the moment. Especially in London (which is where I am). With all our money going on the deposit, stamp duty and furnishing we are left with very little.

The house I've purchased is in a good state however the kitchen is not quite to my taste. Therefore I am considering taking up a recommendation of a friend. He said why don't I just pain the cupboards, like he did to is. I believe that he had real wood where I have the laminated kind (does that make sense?)

Is it possible to paint and make a good job of the cupboards and cabinets if it's the laminated style? If so what would the process be to make it look nice and as a lovely new kitchen?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

Consider new work tops, and replacing the cupboard doors with professionally made new ones, maybe?
Personally I don't think painting laminated surfaces is a good idea.
