Hi,

The white external gas meter enclosure outside the front door is in a bit of a state. Am I allowed to paint this or do the gas company take exception to this or just turn a blind eye to it?

Secondly, what would be the best type of paint to use on it? It has been painted in the past at some point and the paint is flaking badly, do I need a plastic paint, the box looks to be made of plastic or some similar synthetic compound.

Or, do I just forget about painting it and give it a blast with a pressure washer?

I find the best results are; clean - sand to key - paint with one-coat oil gloss. Lasts for years.

joe-90,

Thx for the info, I have some exterior oil based white gloss so no paint to buy, sounds straightforward enough.

I am not a spammer i have made many spam free posts before i was only adding my advice

Personnely i think the metal ones look better and thats the company i used only trying to be helpful

if your that offended ill remove my post but dont see the difference between people posting links to screwfix and the like and me posting a link to the place i bought my meterbox cover from.
